Internally damaged cesspit or manhole cover.

Have cesspit emptied; have cesspit inspected. Repair or replace cesspit or manhole cover.

Odour or smell from cesspit.

1) Cesspit is full or backing up.

 

2) Possible overdose of chemicals killing 'good' bacteria.

1) Call to have cesspit emptied.

 

2) Reactivate system with 'good' bacteria.

My cesspit is filling too quickly.

1) Local water table may be high - possible groundwater ingress.

 

2) Rainwater flowing into the system.

1) Empty cesspit and have inspected.

 

 

2) Divert all rainwater away from the cesspit.
