Rules and Regulations surrounding the registration of your Septic Tank, Cesspit or Sewage Treatment Plant currently vary across the UK.
If you have a septic tank you will either be discharging an element of your waste to land or a local watercourse, (maybe a pond or ditch at the bottom of the garden). This is why registration is a legal requirement - to protect your local environment.
Please be aware that registration is FREE with the Environment Agency in England and Wales. Some companies have charged their customers up to £80 per registration. You DO NOT have to pay for registration in England and Wales. In Scotland there is a fee to register your septic tank.
You do not need to register a cesspit or cesspool as they are sealed systems with no discharge into the environment.
