Septic Tank Registration

Rules and Regulations surrounding the registration of your Septic Tank, Cesspit or Sewage Treatment Plant currently vary across the UK.

If you have a septic tank you will either be discharging an element of your waste to land or a local watercourse, (maybe a pond or ditch at the bottom of the garden). This is why registration is a legal requirement - to protect your local environment.

Please be aware that registration is FREE with the Environment Agency in England and Wales. Some companies have charged their customers up to 80 per registration. You DO NOT have to pay for registration in England and Wales. In Scotland there is a fee to register your septic tank.

You do not need to register a cesspit or cesspool as they are sealed systems with no discharge into the environment.
